Arkansas Tech University has received a bronze seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge in recognition of its non-partisan efforts to encourage civic participation by its students.
ATU was honored for achieving a student voter registration rate of between 20 and 29 percent during the 2022 midterm election. The award was announced by ALL IN in September 2024.
More than 1,060 institutions enrolling more than 10 million students participate in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, which supports colleges and universities in achieving excellence in non-partisan student voter engagement.
“The ALL IN awards were created to celebrate non-partisan, democratic engagement and the outstanding campus voter registration and turnout rates achieved by our ALL IN campuses,” said Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. “Ahead of the 2024 elections, ALL IN campuses are ready to build on the momentum from 2022 to ensure their communities are ready to make an even bigger impact this fall. ALL IN is proud to celebrate and honor top-performing campuses, like Arkansas Tech University, that demonstrate non-partisan student voter engagement is possible and effective.”
ATU’s participation in the program is led by Megan Bell, ATU coordinator of civic and community engagement and leadership development in the ATU Department of Campus Life.
“I could not be prouder of Megan and everyone else in the ATU Department of Campus Life who contributes to this ongoing effort,” said Dr. Keegan Nichols, ATU vice president for student affairs. “Part of our responsibility as a university is to produce graduates who understand the importance of civic participation. This recognition is evidence that ATU is meeting that responsibility.”
