Arkansas Tech University student organization Educators Rising collected and donated more than 300 winter clothing items to the Pope County Foster Care Coalition at the conclusion of the fall 2023 semester.

The socks, gloves and hats will be distributed to children in foster care and protective services in Pope County.

Dr. Kathleen Myers and Dr. Heather Stefanski of the ATU College of Education and Health faculty serve as advisors for ATU Educators Rising.

“The ATU Educators Rising Chapter is a group of diverse educators who have a mission to improve education by positively impacting local youth in our community,” said Myers. “(Educators Rising) is a national program that builds a community of future teachers to come together as one and put their skills to use. Our goal for this club is to provide a support system for all educators: elementary, middle level and secondary. Throughout the year, we have a number of events, workshops and more that help future educators prepare for finals, Praxis and even just events that celebrate educators in general.”
