Approximately 450 firefighting professionals from 25 states are attending the 2023 Arkansas River Valley Wildland Fire Academy at Arkansas Tech University.
The academy began on Monday, May 8, and will continue through Friday, May 19. Participants are engaged in 23 classes, each of which will lead to a certification.
This is the 25th year of the Arkansas River Valley Wildland Fire Academy, which is a partnership between the ATU recreation and park administration program, the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. National Park Service, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Forestry Division.
