Arkansas Tech University is hosting 193 students for its 2024 senior high band camp on the ATU campus in Russellville.
Founded in 1964 by Gene Witherspoon, ATU band camps have provided thousands of young performers with a primer in instrumental music while also serving as an introduction to campus for generations of future Arkansas Tech students.
The camp will conclude on Thursday, June 20, with a series of concerts in Witherspoon Auditorium. There will be performances at 3:15 p.m. (jazz ensemble and chamber wind ensembles), 7 p.m. (concert band), 7:30 p.m. (symphonic band) and 8 p.m. (symphonic wind ensemble).
The ATU Department of Music will continue its summer 2024 band camp schedule by hosting junior high students June 23-27 and middle school students July 7-11.
