ATU-Ozark Adult Education Installs new SNAP Employment and Training Coordinator

Sherry Hesson has been selected to serve as the coordinator for Franklin, Logan and Johnson County’s SNAP Employment and Training program (SNAP E&T).

SNAP E&T can help SNAP participants gain skills, training, or work experience to increase their ability to obtain regular employment that leads to economic self-sufficiency.  Participation in the program is mandatory for SNAP recipients identified as able-bodied adults ages 18 to 49 with no qualifying exemptions and voluntary for anyone else who receives SNAP.  Enrolled participants can receive travel reimbursement, paid tuition and fees, on the job training, and assistance with obtaining employment.

Hesson will work in conjunction with the county’s DHS offices to identify SNAP recipients and enroll them in the program.  She will work with the participants to obtain the resources and services they need to successfully complete the program.

Hesson has worked for Adult Education since 2013.  She is a certified Career Development Facilitator and has a Bachelor’s in Applied Leadership.  If you are interested in learning more about the SNAP E&T program, you may contact her at (479) 667-3520 or shesson@atu.edu.
