Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus registered nursing students surpassed the state and national averages for first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX) during the 2024 calendar year.
ATU-Ozark students’ first-time NCLEX pass rate for 2024 was 95.7 percent as compared to the state average of 91.1 percent and the national average of 91.7 percent.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that ATU-Ozark students’ first-time NCLEX pass rate has exceeded the national average and the fifth consecutive year their first-time pass rate has exceeded the state average.
“I am incredibly proud of the registered nursing program and its exceptional NCLEX scores,” said Dr. Tina L. Smith, ATU-Ozark vice chancellor for academic affairs and workforce advancement. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and students. It reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality education and preparing our graduates to excel in their nursing careers, making a lasting impact on the health care community.”
ATU-Ozark’s Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing is designed to prepare a graduate to function as an entry-level registered nurse, providing direct care to persons as individuals and as members of a family or group.
“The ATU-Ozark RN program faculty are very proud of these RN NCLEX results and all of the students that those scores represent,” said Lisa Pittman, ATU-Ozark registered nursing program chair. “The NCLEX scores are a direct reflection of the hard work of the students and nursing faculty as well as the quality of the RN program at ATU-Ozark. Faculty have been incorporating active learning strategies into the nursing curriculum to increase student engagement and clinical judgement skills for graduating students.”
