Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will begin a new Associate of Applied Science degree program in Banking Services in August beginning in the Fall 2019 semester.  The program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level jobs at banks, credit unions, insurance agencies, and other financial institutions. The Banking Services program will provide relevant, customized training while being responsive to current needs in the banking industry. A career in banking opens doors of possibilities and provides students with professional banking opportunities.

Sheila Jacobs, the Chief Academic Officer, spoke on the relevance of the Banking Services program to the area ATU-Ozark serves.

“The banking sector supports job opportunities in the river valley and northwest Arkansas regions. ATU-Ozark is recognized for responding to our students, industry, and communities’ educational needs. This two-year banking program supports entry-level traditional students as well as current employees needing access to education.”

Students who pursue an associate’s degree in Banking Services will be able to handle a multitude of tasks including reviewing and advising on loans, explaining credit to clients, make financial presentations to schools to educate students about money, research markets for investments, compute property equity, verify bank transactions, and provide customer service and advice to customers.

“ATU-Ozark responded to regional demand. The Associate’s Degree in Banking Services empowers students to excel in today’s modern financial institutions. We have tailored the degree to fit the needs of the working professional who can attain the degree 100% online, as well as offering courses in a traditional classroom learning environment,” Charlotte Coats, the Banking Operations Department Chair stated.

The Banking Services program is accessible and affordable for students.

Richard Harris, Chief Student Officer, stated, “ATU-Ozark provides relevant education while remaining affordable through a variety of financial aid options. Our staff is committed to creating personalized financial and academic plans ensuring students reach their educational goals.”

The Banking Services Associate’s Degree begins in the Fall 2019 semester.

Upon graduating with the Applied Science degree in Banking Services, students may continue their education by “stacking” their earned credentials into an online bachelor’s degree offered at Arkansas Tech University.
