Arkansas Tech University will conduct a virtual celebration of its fall 2020 graduates rather than hosting in-person commencement ceremonies due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The decision was made in accordance with recommendations from the ATU Division of Academic Affairs and the ATU COVID-19 task force.
“We are making this commitment now so that students and their families as well as faculty and staff who are involved with fall commencement can plan accordingly,” said Dr. Robin E. Bowen, ATU president. “Our staff in the ATU Office of the Registrar will take the lead in planning a virtual commencement that recognizes the achievements of the approximately 1,000 ATU students on track to graduate through the Russellville and Ozark campuses this semester.
“The ATU commencement committee met on Thursday, Sept. 24, and is supporting the Office of the Registrar in the development of the virtual commencement,” continued Bowen. “Student feedback will help guide the process as we seek to create the most meaningful celebration possible.”
ATU’s fall 2020 virtual celebration of graduates will be published to www.atu.edu/registrar/graduation.php on Saturday, Dec. 12.
