ATU ROTC Graduates Commissioned as Officers

Six graduating seniors from the U.S. Army ROTC program at Arkansas Tech University were commissioned as second lieutenants during a ceremony at Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall on Saturday, May 11.

Lloyd Baker of McGehee, Caleb Edwards of Lamar, Leighton Johnson of Hartford, Kohlman Jones of Alma, Taurino Keeny of Sherwood and Dayton Lamb of Clinton, Mo., received their gold bars before an audience of family, friends and U.S. Army ROTC cadets.

The commissioning coincided with each new officer’s graduation from Arkansas Tech.

Baker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and will be a transportation officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Edwards received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and will be a field artillery officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in emergency management and will be an infantry officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Jones received a Bachelor of Science degree in cybersecurity and will be a signal offier in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Keeny earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and will be a quartermaster officer in the U.S. Army.

Lamb received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and will be a field artillery officer in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

The ATU U.S. Army ROTC program has commissioned more than 800 officers since it was founded in 1952.
