ATU Student Journalists Collect Statewide Awards

The Arka Tech student newspaper at Arkansas Tech University captured five awards during the 2025 Arkansas College Media Association (ACMA) conference at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville on Friday, April 11.

ATU’s ACMA award-winning student journalists for the 2024-25 academic year are:

AJ Chauffe of Clarksville
*Second place, online in-depth reporting
*Third place, newspaper general column

Terry Tyler of Searcy
*First place, online feature writing

Madelyn Wheat of Sheridan
*Third place, audio podcast

Emily Tyler of Searcy
*Honorable mention, online feature photo

Tommy Mumert, ATU assistant professor of journalism, has served as advisor for the Arka Tech since 1989. The publication celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023.
