Arkansas Tech University student Olivia Johnson of Pottsville was named 2023 Arkansas Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate member of the year and ATU students earned a total of 22 awards at the Arkansas FBLA Collegiate State Leadership Conference March 31-April 1 in Little Rock.
In her role as FBLA Collegiate chapter president at Arkansas Tech, Johnson has planned community service projects such as a canned food drive and organized student-owned business markets that spotlight the entrepreneurship of the ATU student body.
“When I won, I felt as if everything I’ve put my heart into came to fruition,” said Johnson. “The recognition means more to me than I can put into words. Admittedly, there are times where I feel like I don’t work hard enough, especially when projects I’ve poured everything to fall short. Winning member of the year made me realize that the work I’m doing is making a positive impact on ATU students, and even if the projects fall short, I am still doing my best to make a positive change within my community.”
Johnson plans on furthering her service to Arkansas FBLA Collegiate by applying to serve as chief programming officer.
