Arkansas Tech University students Hayden Crenshaw, Tibor Hollmann, Cassidy Stewart and Rayna Van Keuren represented the ATU College of Business and Economic Development as volunteers at the 41st annual Southeast Tourism Society Domestic Showcase, which took place March 20-23 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.
The ATU students made badges, set floral arrangements, aided with deliveries, stuffed bags and created center pieces. They enjoyed a dinner with Monica Smith, president of the Southeast Tourism Society.
“Your commitment to excellence truly reflects the spirit of ATU and the ethos of ATU tourism,” said Dr. Michael Bradley, head of the ATU Department of Agriculture and Tourism, in addressing the student volunteers. “It’s heartening to see such enthusiastic participation, especially during what is typically a time for students to take time away from their academic program (spring break). Your willingness to dedicate your time and energy to this event exemplifies the best qualities of tourism students, grit and ethic.
“I want to personally thank you for representing our university and our program with such distinction,” continued Bradley. “Your professionalism and hard work have undoubtedly left a positive impression on everyone involved. Your contributions helped make the STS Domestic Showcase a success while also highlighting the caliber of students we have here at Arkansas Tech.”
The ATU students at the STS Domestic Showcase were mentored by Susan West, ATU associate professor of tourism.
