Arkansas Tech University students are invited to participate in a clean-up project in observance of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Members of the ATU community will gather at the Doc Bryan Student Services Center at 8 a.m. Assignments will be made and the group will proceed to Lake Dardanelle State Project, where clean-up projects will continue until noon.
Participants are encouraged to dress appropriate for the weather and working outside. The clean-up will be an On Track event on the Elevated Citizen track.
According to the National Park Service, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and general health.
National Public Lands Day was established in 1994. It is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September.
