Four Arkansas Tech University students have earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for spring and summer 2025.
The scholarship recipients are listed below along with their hometowns, the country in which they will study abroad and the duration of their study abroad experience:
- Justin Crone of Russellville, Japan, one semester
- Neiah Denney of Lavaca, France, short term
- Alyssa Harmon of Scranton, Germany, one semester
- Sydney Temple of Cabot, Germany, two semesters
According to the program website, the U.S. Department of State Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students to study or intern abroad and develop skills deemed critical to national security and economic prosperity. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.
Gabriele Haulmark, director of the ATU International Education Office, ATU study abroad coordinator and senior instructor of German, said the ATU Office of Study Abroad offers application workshops on the Gilman Scholarship and similar opportunities each semester.
