Then & Now: Fall 2020
A hundred-year difference. Toasters. Garage Doors. Televisions. Masking Tape. Bubble Gum. Computers. Radios. Bulldozers. Cell phones. Sunglasses. These are just a few of the inventions that have been created since Arkansas Tech University last faced such a wide-spread pandemic.
During the 1918 Flu Pandemic, the university had to close for a while. The first photo shows a 1918 ad in the local paper referencing healthy practices to minimize the spread of the flu. Now, more than 100 years later, Arkansas Tech University closed its physical campus in March and moved to online classes for its students to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The bottom photo shows some signage on campus prior to moving online that was aimed at keeping people safe.
