Nikola Baran made a 3-pointer from the right wing with 0.4 seconds left to give the Rollins College Tars a 74-71 win over the Barry University Buccaneers in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division II Tournament South Regional at Arkansas Tech University on Sunday.
Baran was wide open when he caught a pass from Matt Robertson with less than five seconds to go. He set himself and hit nothing but net with his fourth and final trey of the game.
Sixth-seeded Barry (20-12) had tied the score at 71-71 on a Marvin Davis layup with 9.4 seconds left. Davis was fouled on the play, but he missed the go-ahead free throw.
Nick Wolf led second-seeded Rollins (27-5) with 20 points. He also had nine rebounds and eight assists. Baran finished with 15 points, while Myk Brown netted 13 points and Robertson scored 10 points.
Tony Dennison led Barry with 22 points.
Rollins advances to face either Arkansas Tech or Valdosta State in the NCAA South Region championship game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
