The Arkansas Tech Residence Hall Association has announced information about Battle of the Halls 2012. The theme this year is “Catch the Spirit.”
Events will begin on Sunday, April 15, and a new champion hall will be named on Thursday, April 19.
Halls have already been collecting money for March of Dimes, and the amount collected will be figured into point totals at the end of the week. Collections will end at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
The opening ceremony will begin at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 15 in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall. The formal ceremony will allow officials the opportunity to review rules for the week and spread enthusiasm to student living on campus. Students will present their Hall Crest and Spirit Skit.
Wacky Olympics will be Monday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at the Intramural Fields. Students should dress appropriately for fun and crazy games.
On Tuesday, April 17, RHA will host the Lead Out Loud Community Service Day from 2-5 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to make the community a better place in a variety of ways.
A kickball competition will be held at the Intramural Fields on Thursday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m.
The quiz bowl competition will be held Thursday evening in conjunction with the closing ceremonies, which begin at 9 p.m. Winners and runners up will be announced during the ceremony.
Additionally, halls have an opportunity to gain spirit points at each event. Halls can receive up to 15 spirit points for each event attended, and 20 spirit points for kickball.
“Spirit is not only about your enthusiasm and support for your hall, but is also your spirit, enthusiasm and support for Arkansas Tech University and all communities within,” RHA officials said.
