Mike Bogue, Coordinator of Student Success at Arkansas Tech-Ozark, will present a tribute to 1950’s science fiction movies on Thursday, Nov. 12, in room 300 of the Ross Pendergraft Library located at the Russellville campus of Arkansas Tech University.
Called “Atom Age Apocalypse: Mutants, Monsters, and Mushroom Clouds,” the presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
“Science fiction movies from the fifties are still relevant today,” Bogue said. “For they inspired filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ridley Scott, and James Cameron.”
Bogue’s fiction and non-fiction work has appeared in “Scary Monsters Magazine,” “G-FAN,” “Castle of Frankenstein,” “Wonder, Space & Time,” “The Lookout” and “Daikaiju! 3: Giant Monsters vs. the World.”
Bogue previously headed a panel in Chicago on nuclear holocaust movies at the 2014 national G-FEST, which had more than 3,000 in attendance. In addition, he has also published a book titled “Atomic Drive-In.”
