ATU Reimagining Book Covers Contest Winners 2025
Photographed (from left-to-right): Gavin Wilson, Karrington Bost, Don Cuebas and Sherry Tinerella, associate librarian for public services at Arkansas Tech University.

Gavin Wilson is the 2025 champion of a book cover art contest sponsored by Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center and the Arkansas Tech University Department of Art.

The contest challenges ATU students under the direction of Neal Harrington in the Illustration Studio class to re-imagine classic or popular book covers. This was the third year for the competition.

Wilson, a junior graphic design major from Conway, earned the first-place award for his interpretation of a cover for “The Odyssey,” an ancient Greek poem attributed to Homer.

Karrington Bost of Dardanelle (second place, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”) and Don Cuebas of Jacksonville (third place, “Frankenstein”) were also recognized for their book covers. Bost is a junior art education major, while Cuebas is a senior game and interactive media design major.

The award-winning pieces will become part of the Pendergraft Library and Technology Center art collection.

The winning pieces are located on the northeast wall of the library’s first floor alongside the winners from previous years.
