Dr. Valerie Breashears is the new director of admissions and enrollment communications at Arkansas Tech University.
Breashears joined the ATU Office of Admissions staff as an emergency hire on Sept. 18. Brittny Daubenheyer, ATU assistant vice president for student affairs in enrollment management, reported that Breashears has since completed the interview process and earned the position on a permanent basis.
“Dr. Breashears’ previous experience in admissions and recruitment, coupled with her student-centered approach and her passion for retention, will serve her well in this position,” said Daubenheyer. “She is a proactive leader who is committed to the success of her alma mater in achieving the goals set forth by its strategic plan.”
Breashears holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Science degree in college student personnel from ATU. She earned her Doctor of Education degree in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2018.
“I am honored to be back home at ATU, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of this campus,” said Breashears. “I am committed to collaborating with our campus community to welcome students who will not only excel academically but also contribute positively to our campus culture. My passion lies in ushering in the next generation of bright minds who will make a lasting impact on our institution and beyond.”
Breashears was previously employed in a variety of roles in student and academic affairs at Centenary College (La.), the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, ATU, the University of California, Los Angeles and California Polytechnic State University.
