Arkansas Tech University’s Bryce Burke and Austin Smith both recorded top-10 finishes at the 2015 Payne Stewart Invitational, which was played on Monday and Tuesday at Branson Hills Golf Club in Branson, Mo.
Burke fired rounds of 72-70 for a 36-hole total of 2-under par 142. He finished tied for second among a field of 67 players.
Smith returned scores of 75-71. His two-day score of 146 was good for a share of ninth place.
The Wonder Boys finished fourth among 12 squads in the team standings. Arkansas Tech finished with a team score of 604. The University of Central Missouri won the team title, besting its nearest competition by 23 strokes with a 36-hole total of 573. UCM’s Teddy Jones won the individual title with a two-day score of 4-under 140.
Dylan Lovell (T-38th, 74-83-157), D.J. Godoy (T-48th, 80-80-160) and Julio Arguelles (T-58th, 79-84-163) also contributed to the Wonder Boys’ team score.
Arkansas Tech’s Jordan Hawkes competed as an individual and finished tied for 12th. He shot 76-71 for a 147 total.
The Wonder Boys will resume their 2015-16 golf schedule Feb.28-March 1 at the Las Vegas Desert Classic.
