Chili Cook-off Details Available

Student organizations can compare recipes and battle it out for the winning title in the first ever Chili Cook-off in honor of WonderWeek.

The Chili Cook-off will be held before the Gold Rush basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 18. Set-up and cooking will begin at 9 a.m. and judging will be at 1:30 p.m.

Chili will be judged on its redness, aroma, consistency, taste and aftertaste. All ingredients must be listed prior to the event.

Three prizes will be awarded during half time of the Wonder Boys game. The first place winner will receive $150, second place will receive $75 and third place will receive $50.

Chili must be cooked from scratch the day of the competition and brought to Doc’s Place for judging. Meat must be USDA approved. Cooking conditions are subject to inspection by the judging committee.

The application to participate in the Chili Cook-off is due by Thursday, Feb. 16 in the Office of Student Services.

The third annual WonderWeek will be held this week on the Arkansas Tech campus, and the series of events are designed to promote unity, diversity and campus involvement.

Additional competitions include “The Olympiad: Chariot Races,” “Let’s Can Hunger: Canned Food Sculpture Competition” and the “Mocktail Competition.”
