Arkansas Tech University has earned national recognition for its commitment to high-impact educational practices in support of military-affiliated students.

ATU received the 2020-21 Colleges of Distinction Military Support recognition for its demonstrated dedication to engaging students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes for active duty military personnel, veterans and other military-affiliated individuals.

“Institutions with the military support recognition are aware of the unique challenges military students face on college campuses,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “Arkansas Tech University is proud to support and cultivate the skills that military students bring to the classroom, all while helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.”

Steps taken by ATU to support military-affiliated students in recent years have included the opening of the ATU Office of Veteran Services, obtaining a grant that brought the Veterans Upward Bound program to ATU, creating a student veterans lounge in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center and developing a Green Zone training program that provides faculty and staff advocates with greater resources for supporting military affiliated-students.
