The three-man team of Jimmy Cunningham, Nelson Ennis and Dan Lovelady fired a 17-under par round of 54 to win the championship flight in the 2023 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming Golf Classic on Friday, Nov. 3, at Russellville Country Club.
Cunningham, Ennis and Lovelady made 17 birdies and one par to earn a one-stroke victory over the runner-up team of Roger Cooper, Sam Hughes and Tom Nickels. The turning point was the par-3 11th hole. Cunningham, Ennis and Lovelady made birdie on No. 11, while Cooper, Hughes and Nickels recorded a par.
Additional flight winners were Lucas Duvall, Eric French and Melissa Wofford (first flight, 10-under 61), Jim Parker, Jim Smith and Scott Strasner (second flight, 7-under 64) and Trey Bradley, Isaac Hale and Michael Mueller (third flight, 2-under par 69).
A total of 43 teams competed in the tournament, which helps fund initiatives such as the ATU Alumni Association Scholarship.
