Jeremy Dunbar has become the fourth different member of the Arkansas Tech men’s basketball program to earn Gulf South Conference West Division player of the week honors during the 2009-10 season.
Dunbar earned the final such award of the season on Monday. He joins Renard Allen, Brandon Friedel and Laithe Massey as Tech’s weekly GSC award winners in 2009-10.
Dunbar (photographed) scored 17 of his season-high 21 points after halftime to help the Wonder Boys defeat Christian Brothers 68-54 in the regular season finale on Saturday night.
He scored nine straight points early in the second half to turn a tie score into a 41-32 Tech lead. The Wonder Boys never trailed again as they remained undefeated at home this season.
A 6-foot-5 junior forward from Niceville, Fla., Dunbar is averaging 11.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
He ranks fifth in the GSC in 3-point field goal percentage (.432) and sixth in the GSC in 3-point field goals made per game (2.19) in 2009-10.
The Wonder Boys (26-1) will face West Georgia (13-14) in the first round of the 2010 GSC Tournament at 2:45 p.m. Friday at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.
