Charles J. Guddemi will speak at on his experiences in emergency management and homeland security during an appearance at Arkansas Tech University on Thursday, Sept. 21.
The lecture will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. in Dean Hall room 204. All ATU faculty, staff and students as well as community members are welcome to attend in person or virtually at https://bit.ly/guddemi.
Guddemi is interoperability coordinator for the Washington, D.C., Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. He previously served in law enforcement for U.S. National Park Service for 25 years.
A portion of Guddemi’s talk at ATU will be a recollection of Sept. 11, 2001. He was serving on Ellis Island in New York during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States and the aftermath.
The Sept. 21 event is presented by the ATU emergency management and homeland security program, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022.
ATU has conferred more than 1,000 degrees in emergency management since developing its program. In 2005, ATU became the first institution of higher learning to have its degree programs accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Emergency Management Education.
