Eligible prospective students considering Arkansas Tech University have the opportunity to apply for no-essay scholarships because of a partnership with TheDream.US, an organization designed to support the higher education aspirations for DREAMers.
ATU is the only university in Arkansas to partner with the TheDream.US. The deadline to apply for Dream.US scholarships for fall 2023 is Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The Dream.US National Scholarship is for DREAMers who are first-time college students or community college graduates attending ATU to earn a bachelor’s or associate degree.
“We think of our National Scholarship as the ‘Pell Grant’ for highly motivated undocumented students with significant, unmet financial need,” reads a portion of the Dream.US website. “While we consider your GPA, we place great emphasis on your demonstrated commitment to community service and your ability to overcome the barriers and challenges that undocumented students face each and every day.”
Eligible students should have:
• Have DACA (or applied before July 2021), TPS or a work permit;
• Hold an Arkansas high school diploma or GED;
• Have lived in Arkansas for the past three years; and
• Earned a 2.5 grade point average in high school or college.
The ATU One-Stop Student Center will host a live informational session about TheDream.US scholarships for students and parents from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, on Facebook (www.facebook.com/atudream) and Instagram (www.instagram.com/atu_dream).
