FFA Competition at Tech Today

About 2,000 high school students have converged on the Arkansas Tech campus today.  The students are taking part in the annual Future Farmers of America (FFA) Northwest District Contest, which is hosted by the Department of Agriculture.

The students are competing in a variety of events, and the top qualifiers in each event will advance to compete in the state competition this summer.

Some of the categories students are competing in include the following:

  • Livestock
  • Electricity
  • Floriculture
  • Nursery
  • Poultry
  • Farm management
  • Forestry

The FFA competition has taken place at Arkansas Tech for several years, and organizers say it’s a great way to showcase Arkansas Tech to the students who are here to compete.

The Arkansas Tech Collegiate FFA volunteers to help run the competition, and officials say it takes about 100 Tech students to make the competition a reality.
