The Arkansas Tech University Interdisciplinary Research Series will conclude its fall 2019 schedule with a lecture by Dr. Donna R. White on Friday, Nov. 15.
White’s presentation, entitled “Up, Up and Away: Comic Books Grow Up,” will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Dr. Robert Charles Brown and Jill Lestage Brown Hall room 134. All members of the university community are invited.
Professor of English at ATU, White has served on the faculty since 2001. An alumna of Arkansas Tech, White also holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota.
Her talk on Nov. 15 will explore the development of comic studies as a growing, multidisciplinary field striving to acquire academic legitimacy as the evolution of comic books, graphic novels, manga literature and other visual print mediums increase in popularity and cultural significance.
