Shirley Freeman, full-time instructor at the Johnson County Adult Education Center operated by Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus, has retired after 27 years in that role.
Freeman taught adult basic education, English as a second language (ESL) and GED classes. She previously served as director of the center. Most recently, Freeman served as the program’s learning disabilities and ESL coordinator.
An alumna of the University of the Ozarks, Freeman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education and possesses a Lifetime Teaching certification. She has served on the board of directors for the River Valley Adult Learning Alliance and the River Valley Literacy Council.
Freeman and her husband, Jack, are the parents of three grown children. They have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
