A native of Mena, Pate graduated from Arkansas Tech in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education.
Pate made 76 career tackles and 4.5 career quarterback sacks for the Wonder Boys.
He was a member of the 2009 Arkansas Tech team that finished 9-3 overall, was Gulf South Conference runner-up and reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
“Nick is one of those guys that every coach wants to have on his team,” said Tech director of athletics and head football coach Steve Mullins last fall. “I’m not telling you anything I haven’t said to Nick. He’s not necessarily the most talented person on the team, but he’s a guy who goes out every day, works hard and gives it everything he can. He is a great contributor on all of our special teams. Nick’s attitude that he carries with him is marvelous and I know his work ethic will make him a success after he graduates.”
