Game One: UAM 7, Tech 6 Beth Johnson’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave UA-Monticello a 7-6 win in extra innings over Arkansas Tech in the series opener. Johnson was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, while Lacy Blanchard was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in for the Cotton Blossoms. Kali Piha hit a solo home run for UAM. Courtney Wilson (8-4) went the distance in the circle for the Blossoms to earn the victory. Tech’s Whitney Robinson was 3-for-4. Ashley Keen went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Jalissa Gum also homered for the Golden Suns. Game Two: UAM 5, Tech 2 Blanchard had two hits and Korie Parker drove in two runs to lead UA-Monticello to a 5-2 victory over Arkansas Tech in Friday’s second game. UAM starting pitcher Katie Slaughter (7-5) scattered eight hits over seven innings and was credited with the win.
