An efficient offensive attack lifted Ouachita Baptist University to a 26-24, 25-11, 25-19 Great American Conference volleyball victory over Arkansas Tech University in the regular season finale for both teams on Thursday night at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in Arkadelphia.
The Lady Tigers (22-6 overall, 12-4 GAC) made 32 kills and seven attack errors in 73 attempts for a .342 hitting percentage.
With the win, Ouachita Baptist earned a share of the 2016 GAC volleyball regular season championship alongside Harding University (21-7, 12-4). Harding will be the No. 1 seed and Ouachita Baptist will be the No. 2 seed at the GAC Tournament, which is scheduled for Nov. 17-19 in Hot Springs.
With the loss, Arkansas Tech (21-11, 11-5) was denied a third consecutive GAC volleyball regular season title. The Golden Suns will be the No. 4 seed at the GAC Tournament.
Arkansas Tech will face No. 5 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State University (13-16, 9-7) in a first-round match at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs on Thursday, Nov. 17. Match times will be announced by the GAC in the days to come.
