Consistent play yielded a runner-up finish for the Arkansas Tech University women’s golf team at the University of Central Oklahoma Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
The Golden Suns returned matching team scores of 304-304 for a 36-hole total of 608. Tournament host Central Oklahoma won the team title with a two-day total of 601. Seventeen teams competed in the event.
Jacqueline Klemm (T-3rd, 74-76-150), Katie Whitfield (T-6th, 74-77-151), Sydney Staton (T-12th, 80-74-154), Allie Weiner (15th, 78-77-155) and Makenzie Douglas (T-35th, 78-83-161) contributed to Arkansas Tech’s team score.
ATU’s Josie Roberson (T-18th, 78-79-157) and Cintia Bolanos (T-55th, 88-79-167) competed as individuals.
Central Oklahoma’s Susana Olivares was the individual champion. She posted rounds of 75-68 for a 143 total.
The Golden Suns will return to action Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Golfweek Invitational at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
