Arkansas Tech University’s Cheyenne North scored 17 points and collected seven rebounds to lead the Golden Suns to a 63-54 road win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday afternoon.
North was 8-of-15 from the field. She also made three assists and two blocked shots as the Golden Suns (4-1) passed their first road test of the 2016-17 season.
Arkansas Tech led 16-15 after one quarter and 32-27 at halftime. The Suns pulled away in the third quarter on the strength of their defense, limiting the Tritons to 3-of-13 field goal shooting during the period.
Tech held a 47-34 advantage going to the fourth quarter and went on to a nine-point victory in the first-ever meeting between the first two programs.
Kelsey McClure had 14 points for the Suns. Danielle Frachiseur finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Anissa Pounds scored 10 points.
Jordan Fletched netted a team-high 14 points for Missouri-St. Louis (3-2).
