The City of Russellville and Pope County will celebrate “Green and Gold Day” on Friday in honor of the Wonder Boys and Golden Suns basketball teams. River Valley residents are encouraged to don green and gold to show support for Arkansas Tech basketball.
Russellville Mayor Tyrone Williamson and Pope County Judge Jim Ed Gibson issued proclamations Wednesday declaring Friday as “Green and Gold Day.”
Arkansas Tech will host the NCAA Division II Tournament South Regional for men’s and women’s basketball, and the tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday and will run through Tuesday.
The Golden Suns basketball team will take on Benedict College at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Wonder Boys will face Tuskegee University at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Adult tickets are $8 per day, while student and senior citizens (age 60 and over) will be admitted for $5 for day. Per NCAA rules, no passes will be honored.
