The cool weather in the River Valley will likely continue for several weeks, as groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter.
The groundhog makes his yearly forecast each Groundhog Day. According to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, the groundhog saw his shadow, which means there will be several weeks left in winter.
Punxsutawney Phil made his first weather forecast in the 1800’s, and most of the time Phil sees his shadow. It’s been more than a decade since the groundhog claimed warmer weather was right around the corner.
Thousands gather at Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, each year to watch the groundhog make the prediction.
