Arkansas Tech University’s Ronda Hawkins received Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center statewide excellence awards in three categories during a conference in Little Rock on April 25.
Hawkins won her third consecutive ASBTDC Startup Award for assisting the most new business starts during the past year. She repeated as ASBTDC Capital Projects Star for helping with the highest number of funded projects. Hawkins also earned the ASBTDC Capital Acquisition Star for aiding clients in obtaining more than $22 million in capital investment during 2022, most of any consultant in the ASBTDC system.
An alumna of ATU, Hawkins joined the staff for the ASBTDC regional office at her alma mater as business consultant and training coordinator in July 2012. She was promoted to center director in February 2020. Hawkins consults one-on-one with current and aspiring business owners.
“We are pleased to recognize Ronda for her outstanding work assisting small businesses,” said Laura Fine, ASBTDC state director. “Year after year, she gives her all to help her clients succeed and is instrumental in helping businesses start and grow.”
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration through a partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the ATU College of Business and Economic Development.
The ASBTDC regional office at ATU is designed to assist new, existing and expanding businesses in a six-county region by offering a variety of services including free one-to-one confidential consulting, free market research and low-cost or free training.
