Carl Jones, former chancellor at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus, died on Friday, April 21. He was 85.
Jones joined Arkansas Valley Vocational Technical School as an instructor in electronics technology in 1969. He was named president in 1986 and served in that capacity until the school merged with Arkansas Tech University in 2003.
Upon the merger, Jones became the first chancellor of ATU-Ozark Campus and remained in that capacity until his retirement in 2006.
Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 North 12th Street in Fort Smith.
Jones’ funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
