Seven representatives from the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program met with Arkansas Tech University faculty and staff members during their visit to the Russellville campus on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Shaikhkhusrav Ayubov of Tajikistan, Michael Farraj of Israel, Alem Habte Mare of Eritrea, Gideon Seun Olanrewaju of Nigeria, Dr. Dorothy Joann Lei Labrador Rabajante of the Philippines, Vinicius Silva de Oliveira of Brazil and Tena Zganec of Croatia were led on their visit to ATU by Susan Finke, liaison with the U.S. Department of State, and Tommy Priakos, staff member with Global Ties Arkansas.
According to information provided by the U.S. Department of State, the International Visitor Leadership Program allows “current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields” to “experience (the United States) first-hand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts.”
The delegation met with leadership from the ATU College of Business and Economic Development, the ATU College of Education and Health and the ATU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Dr. Adolfo Santos, ATU executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, welcomed the leadership program participants to campus.
Santos’ welcome was followed by a presentation entitled “Integrating Technology in Education for Global Impact” by Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, professor of teaching and educational leadership and director of the Master of Education degree program in instructional design and technology at ATU.
The U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program visit to ATU was coordinated by Gaby Haulmark, ATU director of international education and senior instructor of German.
