Arkansas Tech University is hosting 240 students for its 2024 junior high band camp on the ATU campus in Russellville.
The camp began on Sunday, June 23, and will conclude on Thursday, June 27, with a series of concerts in Witherspoon Auditorium. There will be performances at 6:30 p.m. (concert band), 7 p.m. (symphonic band) and 7:30 p.m. (symphonic wind ensemble).
Founded in 1964 by Gene Witherspoon, ATU band camps have provided thousands of young performers with a primer in instrumental music while also serving as an introduction to campus for generations of future Arkansas Tech students.
The ATU Department of Music will conclude its summer 2024 band camp schedule by hosting middle school students July 7-11. Band camps for marching arts and senior high were held earlier in June.
