Arkansas Tech University President Dr. Russell Jones has announced that Jaime Land will serve as ATU director of government relations effective Thursday, Jan. 9.
Land has worked in Arkansas state government since 2016. Her roles have included constituent relations, operations and human resources in the Office of Gov. Asa Hutchinson. She was director of state-federal affairs in the Hutchinson administration from 2021-23 and served as director of scheduling and special assistant in the Office of Attorney General Leslie Rutledge from 2019-21. Most recently, Land was director of public relations in the Office of Secretary of State John Thurston since January 2023.
“Ms. Land has the knowledge of state government and the communication skills necessary to be an effective advocate for Arkansas Tech University,” said Jones. “The work that she will perform in Little Rock and elsewhere will benefit ATU students through enhanced educational opportunities. We are excited to welcome her to the Arkansas Tech community.”
A native Arkansan, Land grew up on a cattle and hay farm in Heber Springs. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in family and consumer science from Pensacola Christian College (Fla.) and her Master of Arts degree in education administration from West Coast Baptist College (Calif.).
Land has served as event planner for the Arkansas Statuary Hall Commission, secretary for the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery Board, chair of Arkansas Young Republicans, executive committee member for the Republican Party of Arkansas, national committeewoman for Arkansas Young Republicans, campaign manager for Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands Tommy Land and volunteer for Peacekeepers.
A graduate of Leadership Arkansas Class XVIII in 2024, Land was named an Arkansas Money and Politics Future 50 Leader in 2020 and she was a Cystic Fibrosis Finest honoree in 2021.
