Arkansas Tech University undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates from underrepresented populations are invited to an informational session about a loan forgiveness program for eligible individuals who elect to teach in northwest Arkansas school districts.
The session is planned for 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room. Dinner will be served.
The loan forgiveness program is made possible by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation. It provides each participant in the program with $25,000 for loan repayment over a period of five years if the individual chooses to teach in northwest Arkansas.
A local mentor will be recruited to help each participant succeed in the classroom and in the community.
Commitment to a teacher preparation program is not required to attend the April 5 informational session.
For more information, contact Dr. Ellen Treadway, ATU associate professor of teaching, learning and leadership, at (479) 880-4901 or etreadway@atu.edu.
