Arkansas Tech University undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates from underrepresented populations are invited to an informational session about a loan forgiveness program for eligible individuals who elect to teach in Pope County, Sebastian County or northwest Arkansas school districts.
The session is planned for 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room. Dinner will be served.
The loan forgiveness program is made possible by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation. It provides each participant in the program with $25,000 for loan repayment over a period of five years if the individual chooses to teach in the identified school districts.
A local mentor will be recruited to help each participant succeed in the classroom and in the community.
Commitment to a teacher preparation program is not required to attend the Sept. 7 informational session.
