Dr. Christopher Housenick, assistant professor of political science at Arkansas Tech University, will offer a presentation entitled “Politics of the Marvel Movies” at ATU’s Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center on Thursday, Feb. 16.
The lecture will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Pendergraft Library room 300B, 305 West Q Street in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Housenick will lead a discussion about such films as “Black Panther,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “Captain Marvel,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Iron Man” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” He will examine how the characters and storylines in those films intersect with the American political landscape.
A member of the ATU faculty since 2009, Housenick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Slippery Rock University and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Penn State University. His teaching and research specialize in world politics and comparative politics.
