Moore first to receive Staff Senate Excellence Award

The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus Staff Senate recognized campus librarian, Kristie Moore, by giving her the first Staff Senate Excellence Award last month at the annual Arkansas Tech-Ozark Faculty/Staff Welcome Back Luncheon.

Moore, of Van Buren, has served as the campus librarian at Arkansas Tech-Ozark for five years. Prior to her work at Arkansas Tech-Ozark, she worked for the Crawford County Library System for five years.

“Kristie is being recognized by the staff senate for her service to this university,” Chancellor Bruce Sikes said before presenting her with the prestigious award. “She has given five years of quality work to Arkansas Tech-Ozark and we appreciate all of her efforts.”

All staff members were invited to make recommendations on who should receive this award. Based on the recommendations, the staff senate made the final decision. This is the first year the Staff Senate has given out this award.

“Kristie is an asset to this campus,” said Beverly Nehus, Office the Chancellor and member of the Staff Senate. “Not only is she an asset to the students but to faculty and staff as well. She is very knowledgeable and she has a good rapport with everyone. The students love her and she is always available to help instructors when their students need to do research. We knew, hands down, that she deserved the recognition.”

Moore said she was very surprised she was chosen to win the award.

“I am really honored,” she said. “Everyone is really great here. To have been chosen out of a such a wonderful group of people was very humbling.”
