Ms. Sheila Jacobs will begin duties as the Chief Academic Officer at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus on July 1, 2019.
Jacobs is a first generation college graduate who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and Master of Secondary Education/English. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Jacobs believes education is a powerful life transformer. In her 29 years as an educator, Jacobs has served as a high school English and journalism teacher, an adjunct English and education instructor at ATU’s Russellville Campus, a k-12 curriculum director, director of secondary education, federal programs coordinator, and high school principal.
Jacobs is married to her husband, Jon. They attend the All Saints Episcopal Church where she serves as a Sunday school teacher. Together they have four children, four grandchildren, and two spoiled dogs, Wally and Raiden. They enjoy hiking, finding waterfalls, eating at hole-in-the-wall restaurants and most of all spending time with their grandchildren. She believes out of all of her career accomplishments, being a mother and a grandmother is the most rewarding position of her lifetime. As stated by Bruce Sikes Chancellor, “Ms. Jacobs will bring to the Ozark Campus a diverse background in leadership, curriculum, and service. She is recognized across our region and will be a great addition to the Ozark Campus and Arkansas Tech University.”
