Arkansas Tech University faculty members Dr. Debra Murphy and Dr. David Osburn won first-place prizes in the ugly holiday sweater contest at the 2019 ATU faculty and staff employee holiday party on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Murphy (photographed, left) won in the embellished category for her personification of the 1984 holiday song “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” as performed by Elmo and Patsy.
A member of the ATU faculty since 2014, Murphy is assistant professor of curriculum and instruction in the ATU College of Education.
Osburn (photographed, right) captured the top award in the un-embellished category for his store-bought, cattle-themed holiday sweater.
He is an associate professor of psychology in the ATU College of Arts and Humanities. Osburn has served on the ATU faculty since 2000.

Past winners of ATU faculty and staff ugly holiday sweater competitions have included Dr. Lucas Maxwell (2014), Dr. Jim Collins (2015), Dr. Melanie Diffey (2016), Sherry Tinerella and Dr. David Bell (2017) and Kim DuVall Renteria and Kathleen Myers (2018).
