ACMA Names Williams Top Magazine Editor

Arkansas Tech University’s Katherine J. Williams of Dover was named 2011-12 Arkansas College Media Association (ACMA) magazine editor of the year for her work on Nebo, the literary magazine at Tech.

Williams (photographed) was recognized for her work on the fall 2011 issue of Nebo.

A 2011 “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” selection at Arkansas Tech, Williams majored in English and creative writing.

Two other members of the Nebo staff also received statewide recognition at the annual awards ceremony on April 20.  

James Ritchie earned first place in the ACMA poetry category for his work entitled “A Matter of Taste.”

Frank Edmond Smith captured second place from the ACMA in fiction writing for “Carving.”

Nebo is published twice per year by English and creative writing students at Arkansas Tech. The Arkansas Tech literary journal dates back to 1971, when it was originally pubished under the name Five Cent Cigar. The journal has been known as Nebo since 1976.
