Two Arkansas Tech University nursing students received special recognition during a pinning ceremony earlier this month.
Claire Betts received the Wilkins Award for Excellence in Nursing, which is presented to the graduating nursing student each semester who has maintained academic excellence throughout the nursing program.
Ashley Stanley-Merritt was presented the Outstanding Student Nurse Award. The award is given to a graduating nursing student each semester who personifies nursing professionalism.
During the ceremony, the students also recognized Terri Stombaugh from Johnson Regional Medical Center with the Community Nurse Award. The award is presenting to the nursing professional who exemplifies a nursing role model. The award is voted on by the students and is in memory of Wanda Darter, a past Tech graduate and nurse at the Johnson Regional Medical Center.
During the pinning ceremony, each nursing student graduating from Arkansas Tech received their nursing pin from family and friends.
